Natural Building Materials
One of our main goals as a business is to reduce our footprint for the construction of our landscapes. Therefore, we have chosen to partner with natural local materials. These products like; blast stone, river stone, slate / flagstone, ornamental gravels, and wood chips are not only almost always available they do not have nearly as much of a carbon footprint as other types of construction materials like all the concrete products or stones that come from the USA and overseas. We feel these local products not only fit our business model but also look much more in keeping with our surrounding environment.
Climate Friendly Plants
On Vancouver Island we are often challenged with cold wet winters and extremely hot summers. Our garden designs ensure robust plantings that help deal with drought conditions. We have become experts in drought tolerant plants that are well suited to our changing climate and new extreme conditions. We also focus on native plants and plants that promote biodiversity by attracting important pollinating and predatory insects. We propagate many of these climate friendly plants right at our own nursery here in the Cowichan Valley.
Custom Landscape Features
We have excavator operators that are masters at what they do. For projects large or small we can transform any space with the aid of heavy equipment. Natural stonework can really look incredible in new gardens. These inherent elements really help the synergy between a newly build landscape and the surrounding environment.
